Shams | شمس: Monif Ajaj | Solo Exhibition

Fann À Porter is delighted to present Shams, the first solo exhibition at our gallery by Monif Ajaj (b. 1968, Deir Ezzour). The exhibition unveils new ink drawings on paper and acrylic paintings on canvas that reflect on the mystical power of nature, its geometry and order, and the existential questions it raises about human nature. Ajaj graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, Belarus, in 1995. He has held exhibitions in Amman, Brussels, Damascus, Dordogne, Dubai, Marseille, Oslo, and Paris. His works are held in major collections, including the British Museum, London; the Ministry of Culture, Damascus; Atassi Foundation, Dubai; Darat Al Funun, Jordan; and the Fonds Départemental d’Art Contemporain (FDAC), Dordogne.
