Fann A Porter is pleased to present 'Bardas', an exclusive Viewing Room series exhibition featuring the vibrant paintings of Mexican painter, Carlos Jorge Macari.
Carlos Jorge Macari is inspired by the natural flair for the color, life, and art that makes his home city of Merida, Mexico, one of the country’s primary cultural centers.
After graduating from La Salle Military Academy in New York, he studied architecture in Mexico’s Monterrey Institute of Technology and Studies. His love of art carried him across the ocean to Italy’s International School of Arts in Umbria, where he studied under icons such as Wayne Theibaud and Knox Martin.
In 1997, his first individual exhibition in Yucatan garnered honorable mention in the biennial celebrations. Since then, his works have appeared in group exhibitions, cultural institutes, galleries, and museums not only across Miami, but also Chicago and Mexico—including at the senate of the republic in Mexico City. His artwork is represented in galleries in Mexico, the United States, and now in Dubai with Fann A Porter gallery.
Born in 1970 in the lush Yucatan Peninsula in southern Mexico, the painter spends his time is divided between Merida, Mexico and Miami, Florida, where he melds the vibrancy and culture of both cities into his latest works of art.
