Tola Poulsen is a Danish contemporary artist with a background as an international architect. He has worked for European architectural companies in Dar Es Salaam, Copenhagen, Kampala and Dubai – where he oversaw designing Fairmont Bab al Bahr in Abu Dhabi. He recently emerged as an artist who uses technical skills from Architecture in producing digital portraits of buildings in Dubai and Copenhagen under the name of his company; Tolasse.
Tollase is a contemporary and innovative new Danish design company based in Copenhagen that specializes in creating architectural portraits of buildings in dialogue with their clients in Denmark and Dubai.
His interest in Dubai is based upon the great importance of iconic buildings in that region of the world. By knowing the region’s taste for innovative approaches to art and architecture, he has created 12 architectural site specific portraits of buildings in Dubai using a combination of photography, architecture and graphics into bespoke original pieces of progressive art with a modern and creative approach to composition and a very tasteful pallet of colours to accompany them.
Hereby his "Architectural" way of working is translated into technically and graphical expressive pieces of unique art, that also can be custom made to meet the clients taste if desired, as motif, colours and composition are not static elements but a part of the creative process in reaching the desired goal.
Each piece is custom made to reflect the architecture, interior size and colour scheme of the space it is to reside in, or product it is to represent. The story telling of a brand or place will always be part of the creation. These sources of inspiration are joined into a unique piece of timeless art, always ensuring a context where from the story is told and the creative process originates.
